A Thai beauty queen has been disqualified as a finalist in this year’s local Miss Maxim competition after a video showing her giving a young boy what is believed to be the drug Ketamine surfaced.
Gakwer reports that Kwanjai Khempradub, one of 20 finalists in this year’s Miss Maxim Thailand competition, has been booted from the contest following the appearance of a video in which she offers a boy, who appears to be about five years old, a straw and a powdered substance believed to be Ketamine, or ‘Special K,’ an animal tranquilizer used recreationally for its dissociative effects.
Kwanjai encourages the little boy to snort some of the powder from a folded banknote, laughing when he does so and telling him that he’s “so cool.”
Outrage predictably followed, to which Kwanjai responded by insisting that she did not actually offer the child drugs but rather baby powder.
Thai police have asked Kwanjai to turn herself in and face an investigation.
“If she doesn’t come on her own, we will issue a summons. If she does not respond, she will face an arrest warrant,” Technology Crime Suppression Division Chief Maj.-Gen. Pisit Pao-in told The Nation.
Kwanjai faces a charge of violating the Computer Crime Act. If convicted, she faces up to five years in prison.
It is unclear what the woman’s relationship with the young boy is.
